We’ve taken an existing dilapidated building in Harpenden and demolished it and are now in the process of building a brand new home for a lovely family.

The brief: Create a three storey, four bedroom detached family home with modern open plan spaces and plenty of mod cons.

The budget: £1,00,000

The challenges: The design needs to be sympathetic to the area and neighbouring detached homes (with period features). In accordance, the build needs to be closely monitored to ensure we keep disruption for the neighbourhood to a minimum.

The aesthetic: Ideal communal living with plenty of natural light, fully functional spaces for a young family and lots of luxurious finishes for the ultimate modern home.

Andy took our house that hadn't been touched since 1963 and turned into a home compatible with modern living. He and his team built us a modest extension to increase the kitchen and fitted a new one in its place, converted the garage into a room, new porch, replaced a warm air system with central heating and reconfigured the bathroom. Andy completed the project on my house during 2020 lockdown, adding a bay window and porch at the front, a small extension at the rear, and transforming the ground floor into an open plan living space.
